How Do You Know If You Need New Gutters?

So now you’re probably wondering how you can determine if your home needs new gutters. Well, there are several indications that call for a new gutter installation. Some of the most common signs to look out for are drips, leaks, corrosion, and overflowing gutters.

Malfunctioning gutters do a lot more damage than you might think. Water that pours over the edges of gutters can harm the foundation of your home. Gutters that sag or pull away from your home can rip away fascia and expose wood to moisture damage—which can lead to bigger issues.

Seamless Aluminum Gutter Installation

Keltom Gutters has a proven track record of exceptional gutter installation and cleaning services. When you schedule an appointment with us, we’ll send a field estimator out to your property. Don’t worry, we’ll let you know when an estimator has been dispatched.

During their visit, they assess the condition of your gutter system and provide you with a written estimate. Our field estimator also factors in any necessary changes to ensure that your gutters will function properly.

Seamless aluminum gutters are available in the following styles:

5” Seamless Aluminum Seamless K-Style

For residential properties with a 2″ X 3″ downspout system.

6” Oversized Aluminum Seamless K-Style

For residential and commercial properties with a 3″ X 4″ downspout system.

How To Determine Gutter Size?

Determining the correct size of gutters for your home or business depends on things like the square footage, drainage area, and roof style.

For small to medium-sized buildings, we typically recommend using 5″ seamless aluminum K-Style gutters with a 2″ x 3″ downspout system, as they can handle a water capacity of 1.2 gallons per foot. On the other hand, we recommend 6″ seamless aluminum K-Style gutters with a 3″ x 4″ downspout system for commercial buildings and larger homes.

Specialty Gutter Installation

Aluminum Half-Round Victorian Gutters

Also known as U-shaped gutters, half-round gutters were popular in the 1900s—and to a degree, they still are. This is why many homeowners with older homes choose half-round gutters. However, keep in mind that half-round gutters are heavier than K-Style gutters and have reduced water capacity. Compared to the K-Style gutter, it takes a 6” half-round gutter to hold as much water as a 5” K-style gutter would.

Copper Gutter Installation

Copper gutters are strong, aesthetically pleasing, and stand up to harsh weather conditions. With a maintenance routine set in place, copper gutters can last an astonishing 50 to 150 years. Most alternatives on the market only last between 10 to 30 years—and that’s with proper maintenance.

At Keltom Gutters, we manufacture 5″ and 6″ copper K-Style gutters. To ensure maximum performance and durability, all seams and joints of our copper gutters are hot-soldered, eliminating the use of adhesives or other bonding methods.
